Birth: Aug. 14, 1867 Clarion County Pennsylvania, USA Death: Apr. 7, 1942 Hunter Corbett Van Houten was born August 14, 1867, in Clarion County, Pa., the son of John and Mary Ann Van Houten, and died April 7, 1942, at the age of 75 years, 7 months, and 23 days. He came to this country when 20 years old and engaged in farming. On Dec. 24, 1890, he was married to Sara Coulter. Five children were born to them: a daughter Rill who died in 1908; and four sons, Lloyd, Vinton, Curtis, and Corbett. Mr. and Mrs. Van Houten moved to Battle Creek where Mr. Van Houten was employed several years as Manager of the Farmers Union, the ill health of Mrs. Van Houten making it necessary for him to resign this position. Survivors include the wife, the 4 sons, 8 grandchildren; a sister Mrs. Myra Moller of California; a brother John Van Houten of Correctionville, Iowa; and many other relatives survive. He was a member of Odd Fellow Lodge, and also a Modern Woodman. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. in his home on Thursday, Rev. W. F. Swan of Ida Grove read the service. Burial was on the Mt.
