Birth: Oct. 5, 1879 Death: Dec. 13, 1943 Otto Eng was born 5 October 1879 in Saleby Veästergötland, Sweden to Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Eng. He was seventh in a family of ten children. He came to America at the age of four with his mother, his father having come two years before. Their first home in this country was at Early, Iowa where they lived but one year. From Early, the family moved to a farm south of Arthur. Otto Eng lived and farmed south of Arthur until 1937. Since that time he has resided in the town of Arthur. He was united in marriage to Emma Johnston 12 January 1910. Four childrren were born to this union: two sons, Kenwood and Wilmer, and two daughters, Lucille and Doris. He passed away at 9:15 a.m. 13 December 1943 at the age of 64 years, 2 months and 8 days. He leaves to mourn his death his wife, Mrs. Emma Eng, whose tender care was a comfort to him; four children, Kenwood of Odebolt, Wilmer, Arthur, Mrs. Lucille Plain, Rockwell City, and Mrs. Doris Gustafson of Arthur; one brother, Alfred of Arthur; two sisters, Mrs. Lena Carlberg, Storm Lake, and Mrs. Ellen Beecraft, Los Angeles, fifteen grandchildren and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 from the house and 2:00 from the Arthur Free church with Rev. Lester Westlund in charge. He was a devoted husband and father and a well respected citizen of the community. Mr. Eng was preceded in death by a brother Anthon Eng. 28 Feb 1900, two sisters, Mrs. Alma Eslick, 21 March 1934 and Mrs. Anna Carlberg, 6 September 1920.
