Mary (Sederberg) Bilsten, her mother, was also born in Skåne, Sweden. At the age of seven she came with her parents to America coming direct to Moline, Illinois. Her father found employment in Moline as a carpenter and after a few years the family came to Crawford county to meet his brother. They came to Denison, The brother wasn?t at the station meet them so the father, mother, two sons and a daughter, carrying all their possessions started out to walk to Kiron. Near the Ogren school the brother met them, put them into his wagon and took them to his home. They resided on a farm one and one half miles south of Kiron for two years and then moved to Ida county, where the father passed away. They had purchased an 80 acre farm for .50 an acre.
